Calling all young singers! Junior Choir is starting again. Our first practice is Sunday, September 16 (today) after the 10:30 am service. Of course, anyone can join anytime and we take youth of all ages. We plan to perform at least twice during the Fall and during the Christmas season (White Gift service and the evening Christmas concert). “SOUPER MOVIE NIGHT!” Friday, September 28th
We will be serving Homemade Soup and Rolls starting at 6pm with the movie starting at 7pm. As usual there is no charge (freewill offerings are appreciated), with popcorn and refreshments available during the movie. This movie is based on the Newberry Medal winning children’s Book, by Katherine Paterson published in 1977.
“Bridge to Terabithia” is a PG rated movie that deals with friendship, bullying, death, and faith.
VOLUNTEER FOOD HANDLING COURSE ~ All those who bring food to the church, those who serve, those that package for take out are encouraged to attend this 3hr session, Saturday, September 22nd, 9:00 – Noon. Please speak to Wally to sign up.
Q & A SOUP SUNDAY ~ At the 10:30 worship service…Ivan will be taking your questions and then plan to stay for a bowl of homemade soup and fellowship on September 30th.
SPIRIT CAFE MUSIC NIGHT– Sponsored by Dartmouth area United Churches. Please join us on Tuesday, 18 September for fellowship and song, 530-630 at Machum Cafe on Ochterloney St. Adam Johnson is back to lead us in the music. The Dartmouth Christian Men’s Fellowship Prayer Breakfast (DCMFPB) at 7AM Tuesday, September 18th at the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre, 45 Ochterloney Street. Please register on the website http://www.dcmfpb.ca by 10AM Monday, Sept. 17 or call Bob at 902-434-3438. The guest speaker will be Allan Dwyer, local businessman and active churchman. Breakfast cost is $10.
POVERTY SOLUTIONS WORKSHOP All are welcome to attend a 1-day workshop exploring opportunities for the United Churches of Dartmouth to work together to combat poverty in our communities. The purpose of the day is to identify 4 to 5 possible pilot projects that the Churches, as a group, could take on, in response to the 129 Ideas for Action and community needs identified in the United Way’s Building Poverty Solutions community report. Tea and refreshments will be served, but attendees should bring a brown-bag lunch. Cost: Free; Child care available.
