- CALL TO WORSHIP *
We stand at the door of an opening year.
One more step and we’re there!
We stand with our backs to the year that is past.
One more step from our past!
We stand with our friends, surrounded with care
And together, in step, we walk forth in Christ.
Let us worship God!
- INTROIT (# 35 VU – In dulci jubilo) *
Good Christian Friends, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice,
Now hear ye of endless bliss
Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this!
He has opened heaven’s door and we are blessed for evermore!
Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this!
- PRAYER OF APPROACH and the LORD’S PRAYER *
God of the Ages, both past and yet to come,
You hold humanity in your loving embrace,
and guide us through the changes and seasons of life.
Set us free from the year that is past and
show us a path into the new year.
Send your Spirit to whisper to our souls, to open our minds, and to breathe new life into all our adventures
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, saying,
OUR FATHER….. NOTRE PERE…. AR N-ATHAIR…
ONZE VADER …VATER UNSER… PADRE NEUSTRO…
الصلاة الربانية ONS VADER…. AMA NAMIN…. 我們的父親
- HYMN # 6 (VU) A CANDLE IS BURNING *
during which we light the Christmas candles
- PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of the past, the present, and the future,
Who was, and is, and is yet becoming,
You, who are filled with mercy and compassion,
hear our prayers.
Forgive our longing for what was, our living in yesterday
and our continuous looking at what we have done.
Pardon what we cannot pardon both in ourselves and in others. Restore in our souls what we have lost to sin.
Breathe new life into us and turn us toward the future
to which you beckon us through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
- SILENT CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON
- LEARNING TIME
In peace, dear God, I come to You through Jesus Christ who makes me new
And while I run or play or rest, be with those whom I love best,
Guide me in your Holy Way, as You walk with me each day, AMEN.
