- CALL TO WORSHIP *
Christ gathers us together and says,
Come – follow me!
Christ says to those around us,
Come – follow me!
Christ says to the searching, the questioning & the wondering,
Come – follow me!
Christ says to the world, looking for guidance,
Come – follow me!
Let us prepare for the journey. Let us worship God.
- INTROIT (Tune: # 567 in Voices United)
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown?
Will you let my name be known?
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
- PRAYER OF APPROACH and the LORD’S PRAYER *
Loving God, You are constantly calling us to follow you;
calling us to dream new dreams
and let our imagination be infused with your spirit.
Breathe that Spirit into us during this Worship Service,
that we may learn from those who have gone before us,
and learn from those around us,
until we perceive what You propose for us,
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, saying,
OUR FATHER…. NOTRE PERE…. AR N-ATHAIR.…
ONZE VADER …VATER UNSER… PADRE NEUSTRO…
- HYMN # 161 (MV) I HAVE CALLED YOU *
- PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Mysterious God,
in the fishermen, Simon and Andrew, James and John,
You saw people fit to be called your disciples,
even though the world might look upon them with distain. With those same eyes,
filled with understanding and imagination,
look upon each of us.
Forgive what others might distain when they look at us,
forgive what we know to be our sins,
forgive what we feel to be less than required,
and forgive what we cannot forgive within ourselves.
Mysterious God,
coming in an unwed mother,
growing up in a carpenter’s shop,
loving the wit of a Gentile woman,
telling a story about a “good” Samaritan,
and making friends with sinners of all stripes,
forgive us.
In your Name we pray, Amen.

- HYMN # 268 (VU) BRING MANY NAMES *

In peace, dear God, I come to You through Jesus Christ who makes me new
