LIGHTING OF THE TABLE CANDLES
As light is a spectrum of many colours,
some visible and some beyond our capacity to see,
so You, O God, are the source of all light,
and beyond our capacity to define or contain.
May these Candles remind us
that You are the Light of the World
and that You are with us,
transforming and transfiguring,
through Christ our Lord, Amen.
INTROIT (tune – Festal Song # 79)
Arise, our Light has come The Spirit’s call obey
Show forth the glory of the LORD which shines on us today!
Arise and sing God’s Praise with heaven and earth rejoice
The unseen God has taken flesh! God has a human voice
CALL TO WORSHIP
From the top of the highest mountains, God is calling!
And God’s Voice echoes in the deepest valleys of our lives.
From the pages of ancient scriptures, God is calling.
And God’s Voice speaks through modern media.
From the people around us, God is calling.
And God’s Voice is whispering from deep within me.
Amen! Let us worship God!

in the words you taught us to pray.

HYMN # 661 (VU) COME TO MY HEART LORD JESUS
TEACHING TIME and PRAYER
In peace, dear God, I come to You
Through Jesus Christ who makes me new
And while I run or play or rest, be with those whom I love best,
Guide me in your Holy Way, as You walk with me each day.
SCRIPTURE LESSONS
First Testaments: Exodus 24: 12 – 18
Psalm 2
The Chosen One of God, shatters the tyrants rod,
Oppressors all be warned, God’s justice can’t be scorned!
Why are the nations of the world in turmoil?
Why do the peoples of the world plot in vain?
The Rulers of the Nations conspire
they plot and they scheme together, saying,
“Against the plans of God we will scheme
and against God’s anointed, we will rebel.”
They stir up the people by saying,
“Break free from the chains of God,
throw off the shackles of religion.”
The Chosen One of God, shatters the tyrants rod,
Oppressors all be warned, God’s justice can’t be scorned!
\
The One enthroned in eternity, laughs at their folly;
The Holy One of Israel scoffs at them.
God rebukes them in their foolishness. Page 3
God causes them to tremble, saying,
“I have installed my Chosen One in Zion,
On the holy mountain, the light of my Presence shall shine.”
The Chosen One of God, shatters the tyrants rod,
Oppressors all be warned, God’s justice can’t be scorned!
I will proclaim to the nations
“You are my son;
today, before the nations, I have become your father.”
The LORD says to the Chosen One,
“I will make the nations your inheritance,
All the ends of the earth shall be your possession.
You will break their oppressors with a rod of justice
you will dash their deceivers to pieces
like pottery falling on the floor.”
O Rulers of the Nations, be wise;
be warned, you Governments of the earth.
The Chosen One of God, shatters the tyrants rod,
Oppressors all be warned, God’s justice can’t be scorned!
Serve the LORD with fear and respect
and learn to celebrate God’s rule with trembling.
God is just and seeks justice.
Do not provoke God to anger.
Blessed are those who commune with God,
who seek the counsel of God, and who put their trust in God.
The Chosen One of God, shatters the tyrants rod,
Oppressors all be warned, God’s justice can’t be scorned!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end, Amen.
