CALL TO WORSHIP
People of God, let us gather to walk with Christ.
God is with us and God will guide us.
The journey may be difficult, but….
God is with us and God will guide us.
As a community of faith,
God is with us and God will guide us.
Faithful is our God.
INTROIT (3 X singing)
In the midst of darkness the light of Christ is shining,
Faithful, faithful is our God!
In the midst of darkness the light of Christ is shining,
Faithful, faithful is our God.
PRAYER FOR THE PRESENCE OF GOD’S LIGHT
Eternal God, let the Light of Christ shine before us:
as a Map, guiding our journey,
as a Lighthouse, piercing through life’s storms,
and as a Porchlight, welcoming us home.
This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who taught our souls to sing of your Glory in these words:
THE LORD’S PRAYER
( # 960 in Voices United)
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
God of all Time, and present at this time,
may the Holy Spirit open our hearts and minds
as we open the pages of Scripture.
This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSONS
Gospel John 3: 1 – 17
Psalm 121
Unto the hills around do I lift up, my longing eyes.
O whence for me shall my salvation come,
from whence arise?
As you lift up your eyes to the surrounding hills
in which lie dangers of every kind.
You may ask in silence within your soul,
From where will my help come? Who will be my saviour?
Your help will come from the LORD!
The Maker of Heaven and Earth.
He will not suffer that thy foot be moved, safe shalt thou be.
No careless slumber shall his eyelids close who keepeth thee.
God will not let your foot slip
The One, who watches over you, will not slumber;
indeed, the One who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD will watch over you!
The LORD will be at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon betray you by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm.
God will watch over your life;
From every evil shall He keep thy soul. From every sin.
Jehovah shall preserve thy going out, thy coming in.
Above thee watching He whom we adore,
Shall keep thee henceforth, yea, for evermore.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and every shall be,
world without end, Amen.
First Testament: Genesis 12: 1 – 4
Epistle Lesson: Romans 4: 1 – 5 and 13 – 17
LEARNING TIME & PRAYER
In peace, dear God, I come to You
through Jesus Christ who makes me new
And while I run or play or rest, be with those whom I love best,
Guide me in your Holy Way, as You walk with me each day, AMEN.
ANTHEM~LORD, WHO THROUGHOUT THESE FORTY DAYS
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God,
who loves the world with a love that will not let us go,
who cherishes creation and all creatures,
and who has come to be with us, in Jesus Christ our Lord; forgive our sins against others
as we would wish them to forgive our sins against them.
Restore what is broken, remold what must be remade,
and reform us into your image.
All this we ask through Christ our Lord, Amen.
